Advocates for Children
The 2013 Jingle Jog will be this Thursday, December 5th. This 1.4 mile race will take you right down Main Street, following the same route as the Cartersville Christmas parade. (new) Bartow County Parks and Recreation Department
6th annual “Hoops for Health” kick off basketball tournament will be held December 14th. The tournament is used as a fund raiser for our Camp Bartow Scholarship Program for young people in our county, as well as a fund raiser for Bartow Health Access, a 501c3 charitable health care clinic. At the tournament, every player will receive a gift bag full of goodies and a t-shirt. The Salvation Army

(new) Bartow Community Christmas Luncheon The 5th Annual Community Christmas Luncheon is set for Saturday, December 21 at the First Presbyterian Church of Cartersville. The team needs help getting the word out to the people who would benefit from a great holiday meal and some Christmas music. Please feel free to download Spanish and English fliers from the Collaborative website… and distribute as you see the need. If you would like to volunteer, shifts are from 10:00 – 12:00, 12:00 – 2:00 and clean up from 2:00 – 3:30. The Team is also in need of homemade cakes, pies, cookies and brownies that can be dropped off on the morning of the luncheon. Cookies and brownies can be packaged in baggies (two
per bags) for the to-go plates for shut-ins that churches deliver. To volunteer or make a

The Valentine’s Day Wine and Chocolate Half Marathon, 10k & 5k will be held
Saturday, Feb. 15th, 2014 @ The LakePoint Sports Complex – 755 Highway 293. Emerson,
GA 30137. The race will be a Ladies Only Half Marathon/10K/5K Run or Walk. Mom and
Kids are welcome (sons up to age 17 allowed to run with Mom or Grandmother). Dads are
welcome to Cheer On! The day will begin @ 5:30 am with registration, 7:30 am National
Anthem, 8:00 am Half Marathon, 5K and 10K start @ 8:20 am. The Expo opens at 9:00 am

Mandated Reporting of Child Abuse in Georgia: Your role in recognizing and responding
will be offered Dec. 10th from 1:00 – 2:30 pm. The Webinar, presented by Stephanie V.
Blank Center for Safe & Healthy Children at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, will focus on
the basics of mandatory reporting laws of child abuse in Georgia, types of abuse that are
covered under the GA Statute regarding mandated reporting, and how to recognize the
signs that these types of abuse may be occurring, and policies and procedures related to
