The Mental Health & Addictive Disease Work Group of Bartow Collaborative and Bartow Emotional Health Resources’ Community Education & Advocacy Work Group will be hosting a Behavioral Health Stakeholder Summit & Advocacy Training tomorrow, December 17th at the Goodwill Career Center in Cartersville. From 11am to 1pm, Highland Rivers Health will be guiding community partners through a discussion regarding the current state of behavioral health and challenges and barriers that exist in Bartow County. The group will set priorities for the next year. Decision maker, community leaders, stakeholders and advocate groups who have a vested interest in persons with mental illness, addictions or developmental disabilities should attend. From 12 noon to 1pm, Kathleen Varda, Director of Strategy and Business Development at Highland Rivers Health, will offer an Advocacy Training to help participants prepare for the upcoming session that begins in January. As a past adjunct professor for Georgia State University, Ms. Varda has taught both grant writing and social welfare policy in the School of Social Work within the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies. The next Bartow Collaborative Meeting will be held on January 24th. More details will follow after the first of the year.
Unless there are new partner announcements, there will not be an eblast the week of December 23, 2013 and December 30, 2013. Collaborative eblast will continue Monday, January 6, 2014.
NEWSWORTHY… Woodland High School/Cartersville High School
There will be a PIN DOWN HOMELESS DUAL wrestling match tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 17th @ 6:00 pm at Woodland High School. 100% of the proceeds will go to help the Bartow County Schools Homeless Program. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Bartow Community Christmas Luncheon The 5th Annual Community Christmas Luncheon is set for Saturday, December 21 at the First Presbyterian Church of Cartersville. Please feel free to download Spanish and English fliers from the Collaborative website…www.bartow.gafcp.org and distribute as you see the need.
