Georgia Center for Nonprofits, Nonprofit University will offer Diagnosing Your Business on Friday, August 22, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm at the Cartersville-Bartow Chamber of Commerce AB Community Room, 122 W Main St, Cartersville, GA 30120. Registration is $10 for staff, board members, and volunteers of local nonprofits, social services, churches, government agencies and businesses in Bartow County and $25 for those serving outside Bartow County. NWGA Center for Independent Living
The Center for Independent Living will host a free August Lunch and Learns on Wednesday, August 20th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m @ The Goodwill Career Center, 154 Hicks Drive, Rome, GA 30161. Diet is a four-letter word, exer-cize is two four-letter words, and STRESS is, well, the worst word of all. So come take a break with us and learn about yummy, healthful eating, easy movement and how to put stress in a new perspective. We will also be addressing how to talk with your doctor about your health care and any accommodation needs.We will have chocolate, as well as lunch! You are invited to the first annual Don’t Come at All Independence Ball and Raffle.
Donations received before August 31st will be automatically entered into a raffle to win a brand new iPad with keyboard case. All proceeds support empowering people with disabilities. Donations of $25 could pay for grab bars so someone could bathe themselves safely, $100 could pay for a rolling walker with a seat, allowing a person with a balance disability to walk, and take a rest when needed, $500 could provide materials for a ramp, allowing people who use wheelchairs access to church, doctors, and grocery stores. Soul Sista’s Runaversary will be held October 11, 2014 at Sam Smith Park (1155 Douthit Ferry Rd in Cartersville). The 5K race starts at 8am and the 10k race starts at 9am, both to help sponsor the Soul Sista’s Scholarship Foundation for young ladies 17-29 and women 30 & up.
