We are happy to announce that with our upcoming 2016 Turkey Trot 5K at Sam Smith Park, we have partnered with SJD Health and Fitness to help you get in shape and ready to run. We know many of you would like to participate in our annual Turkey Trot 5K fundraiser, but may have never run in a 5K before (or maybe it’s been a long time since you last ran one).

With that in mind, personal trainer Susan Delmonico is taking sign-ups for her upcoming Couch to 5K program, which will start on Monday, September 12th and have you ready to run in our 5K by November 19th. 2015 Atlanta Falcons Community Quarterback Award Program

2015 ATLANTA FALCONS COMMUNITY QUARTERBACK AWARD PROGRAM

 

The Atlanta Falcons Community Quarterback Award program recognizes volunteers throughout the state of Georgia (ages 13 and over) who exemplify leadership and dedication to bettering their communities.  We know that many organizations rely on quality volunteers to create and facilitate programs that benefit many lives throughout the state of Georgia and this award is designed to recognize and reward these individuals.

 

Each month during the 2015 season, beginning in September, an Atlanta Falcons Community Quarterback of the Month winner will be selected.  The four winners will each receive:

  • Two (2) tickets to the Sunday, December 27 game against the Carolina Panthers
  • A $1,000 grant from NFL Foundation to the organization served

Nominations will be accepted July 20 – November 11, 2015 and winners will be announced monthly:

September winner will be announced September 1
October winner will be announced October 1
November winner will be announced November 3
December winner will be announced December 1

 

In addition, an Atlanta Falcons Community Quarterback MVP will be selected by a panel of civic and community leaders and announced at the annual Atlanta Falcons Community Honors Dinner.  The winner will receive an additional $4,000 grant from NFL Foundation to the organization served.

Blood Assurance Our community is experiencing shortages of both O Positive and O Negative blood types. Currently, there is a two day supply of inventory. O negative is the universal blood type and can be used by anyone in a trauma situation. O positive is the most common blood type and has a high usage. Your one donation can save three lives. To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good health. February 3, 10, & 17 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm: Early stage (for those in the early stage of the disease as well as their care partners). February 24, March 3 & 10 @ 10:00 am -12:00 pm: Middle stage (for caregivers of people in the middle stage of Alzheimer’s). March 17 & 24 @ 10:00 am -12:00 pm: Late stage (for caregivers of those in the late stage of the disease).
Aging & Disability Resource Connection and the Alzheimer’s Association will offer their Annual Caregiver Conference on April 30, 2015. The deadline for sponsorship is March 16, 2015. The deadline to be an exhibitor is March 31, 2015 and the deadline for individual registration is April 15, 2015. Exhibitors are welcome to provide a door prize to be given away the day of the conference. Door prizes will be for family caregivers. In order to simplify the process, each exhibitor will handle the drawing for his/her door prize at his/her table.
